Here are 3 templates that counsellors working with children and young people could use as a more visual aid and way of communicating the counselling contract. There is a blank one where you could fill in your own information or questions. There is one with key questions included. The third has key questions but added pictures / symbols. There is a black and white version and colour version of each of the 3 templates. Play therapists may also adapt the templates for their work with children and young people.

Here are two writing frames for children to record, write or draw what makes them happy and what makes them sad. There are two worked examples to share and talk about with the children showing what makes this pretend child feel happy and sad. Children can write single words depending on their ability level and / or paste in pictures to illustrate their feelings. This is a great way to get to know your new class too.

A lesson linked with Feelings, Emotions, Mindfulness, Mental Health and Well Being and Self-Esteem. This is a great lesson on its own, or accompanied by a jar(empty sweet jar will do) filled with positive sayings, pictures or quotations. Great lesson to start the New Year or Term in a positive way. Children can use the* Postits* on page 3 to write some notes and plan what they will put into their own jar. They can work in pairs or groups for this or on their own. This resource compliments the 72 Thinking Positively Cards available on my shop also.

3 activity sheets based on the theme of World of Work for KS1. Sheet 1 shows 20 characters with props that suggest their occupations. Children can make a list of what jobs they think the people do and then write the corresponding numbers next to the characters. Sheet 3 gives suggestions that may support the children in their choices and with their written work. Sheet 2 shows 4 characters and asks the children to add props to each person to indicate what jobs they might do. They can then write the titles underneath the pictures. Sheet 3 can also be used for children to draw pictures of occupations or props and /or to write the words.

A useful end of year assembly or / and class resource about Transition. This is a good discussion to find out about any anxieties your children may have about Transition, Moving On or Change such as moving to a new class / year group or school. The slides can be used with small groups or the whole class and focus on positive things as well as those that may be a little worrying for children. The last slide is an activity sheet, that can be printed off, for children to express their individual thoughts and feelings around Change and Transition. You can change the headings as appropriate for individual needs or your class. The PPT can be used with Primary children of all ages and those with SEN. You can add in extras in this PPT format such as photos of old classes, fond memories etc.

A power point presentation to share with young children encouraging them to talk about keeping safe and road safety as well as observing sings all around. Slides 1 to 4 show colour images and words that children can name and discuss their meaning. Slide 5 can be printed off as a worksheet and asks the children to write about how to cross the road safely. Slide 6 is a table of some of the vocabulary the children could use in their writing or learn as part of their topic work. Slide 7 is a colouring sheet - children can colour this in or use it as a stimulus for making their own Road Safety doodle sheet or poster. Link this work to any topic on safety, ourselves or transport.

3 worksheets to use with children preparing them for change and helping them to think about the experiences they have had this year and consider things to look forward to when moving on. Questions for children to think about include: What I am most proud of this year The subject I have enjoyed the most What things will stay the same next year Something I am looking forward to As an extension, make a class display by cutting out the boxes, once the children have filled them in, and making a large poster. Children could add their own illustrations.

This is an animated PPT with 2 activity sheets as a follow up. Jo wants to start a new hobby, but she cannot decide what. There are 20 animated ideas to choose from. Children watch the PPT and help Jo to decide on a hobby they feel would be suitable. The slides are animated so the children will delight in watching the hobby ideas on the TV, There are lots of details too, on the slides for children to talk about and spot in the other slides. Some of these are animated also. The activity sheets are at the back: A writing frame for children to write their choice of hobby for Jo and their personal choice. They then draw these hobby choices. Activity sheet 2 is for children to colour and label all the choices of hobbies. Extension activities include data handling - how many children chose the same or different hobbies? 5 worksheets based on the Senses - look, listen, touch, taste, smell. Each sheet has a different sense as it’s theme. Children can colour these in and discuss them. They can then create a doodle sheet of their own for one or more of the senses.

A speaking and listening activity linked to topics such as the World of Work, Occupations, Jobs and the Community. A good activity for those learning English as a second language too. Page 1 shows a collection of 25 people - some of these characters have the same or similar jobs and some are jobs that are open to interpretation. Page 2 gives a list of 7 possible questions or activities to start and develop discussions for individuals or groups.

There are 20 slides that you could use daily or as a complete PSHE lesson where children can talk together in pairs, groups or as a class. Activities for EYFS/KS1 and SEND pupils with a Science theme. There is a colour poster showing symbols connected to staying safe in the sun. Children can discuss these and label them. The same poster is also in black and white for children to colour in and label. Children can fill in sheet 3 with as many ways of staying safe in the sun that they can think of. They can draw or write in the writing frame. Next is a simple poem to share with your class called ‘Having fun in the sun’. Children can listen out for symbols or pictures shown in the posters. Children write out the ways he does this in word, sentence or list form. 2/3. There are 2 sheets - a girl and a boy sheet - children draw their own ways of looking after themselves and write about these. 4 / 5. These show bears exercising indoors and out. Children write in the templates showing they are aware of how exercise and well - being can take place indoors and outdoors. This is a lovely colour sheet showing foods that are and are not healthy for you. Children are asked to distinguish between them and write a list of all the healthy foods.
